# Tired-

Been working on my mix really often lately. Am getting kind of tired. =.=

I will do my best.

Haha. I actually meant to post yesterday, but I forgot. Anyway, ear training on Thursday was awesome. We had a test to see where we stood before we even had proper lessons on how to identify which frequency got cut or boosted. I want to see how much I improve by the end of the one-and-a-half month training. xD

A new batch of students will be coming in next week. Can't wait to meet them~ I've heard that there are about five out of the twenty who are girls. Population of girls is increasing at SAE, so I demand a new TOILET! Hahaha. Sheesh, it's not fair that the boys get a multi cubicle-d toilet, and there's only one cubicle for girls. =.= Fine, so maybe guys outnumber girls 10:1 there, but hey, it's a pain whenever I try to turn the knob of the toilet door and find out that it's locked.

Urgh. I'm hungry. Shall go munch on chips now. xD

# Hahahah-

Tomorrow will be my final mixing session. :) I'll have to get some of my classmates to listen to my mix, cos I don't trust my own ears: the kick drum sounds funny after EQ-ing and I have no idea which frequency I should cut or boost to make it sound better.

I hope the lecturers don't ask to listen to the reference song during my presentation or I'm so gonna die. If you don't listen to the original song then my mix sounds pretty OK, but if you do, then you'll realize that my mix lack the power that the original has. =.=

I wonder if there's anything I can do to make it sound "livelier"? Hahaha. Oh well. I'll wait for classmates' opinions tomorrow.

Today... I went to school for nothing. -.- Aircon wasn't working and class was cancelled cos there wasn't a cooler place we could go. It's like suana in the demo room. =.= But after a while the aircon started working again~~ Hahaha.

Went to Carl's Jr. with Streisand, Samson and Ryan after that and watched them eat. Lol.

It's scary how they can put away such huge burgers in a span of say, 15 minutes? Hahaha. The portions were huge and I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish one set by myself. O.O

I'm kinda sleepy... Had a lot of fun talking to Jeremy, Skyla, Yadi and Ian while waiting for the aircon to come back on. Patrick went to watch a movie cos he couldn't tahan the heat in school hahaha. (>.<)

Yadi is mean. =.= He saw me talking to Jeremy and said, "Oi, Fiona, why you still sitting around doing nothing? Hurry help the uncle clean the school la!"

Wah, Yadi, you think I superwoman ah. Lol. I try to help you install protools onto your computer and you treat me like that! Tsk. Haha but in the end Giri was the one who managed to get the software installed. =p

Oh wells. Anyway. Music appreciation tomorrow again~ I can just kick back now that I've already done my presentation. Now all I have to worry about is the recording's presentation, which should take place next week. =.=

I must finish my logbook soon. Hope I don't delete it without saving again, like last time, or I'm really screwed.

# Presentation-

I'm still not too good with standing in front of many people and speaking. Did the presentation today, and when I tried to make eye contact with my classmates I just freaked. Lol.

So Streisand suggested that I look at the wall or at the space between the people I'm speaking to instead of looking into their eyes. Hmm. I might try that when I have to do presentation for my recording assignment. xD

How do you guys get used to speaking in front of so many people, anyway? Gah. I get unnerved everytime I feel so many pairs of eyes staring back at me. =.= Wonder if I'll ever get used to it.

We'll be sitting in for our senior's presentation of their final work on Thursday~ The teachers reckon we should watch our seniors so that we'll know what to do when it's our turn to do our final presentation. =.= Gawd, just kill me.

Giri's taking us for midi theory tomorrow. Oh joy, theory. xD Haha, just kidding. It's a bit dry and all, but I'll just have to bear with it.

Feeling a bit sleepy now, so maybe I'll go take a rest or something. Will have to read the midi theory notes later to refresh myself on the stuff he talked about on Monday so that I won't be lost in tomorrow's lesson.

# Music Appreciation-

I've been spelling words wrongly recently... Like earlier, "words" became "wodrs" and "download" became "donwload"... and also "appreciation" became "appreciaiton"...

Anyway, music appreciation class tomorrow, taken by Patrick. xD Should be fun. He gave us assignment to do. -.- Supposed to research on a song that has been covered by other artistes, and trace the genre of that song to like, the 70s and 80s... progression of time and how the genre "evolved", so to speak. We're also supposed to find out what infleunced the original band intodoing that particular genre of music. Preferably no genre that we're particularly fond of or familiar with.

Initially I researched on Carpenters, because I found this really nice song of theirs that Rie Fu covered, titled (They Long To Be) Close To You. Finished everything and went to school today, and Ian happily said, "I'm doing the Carpenters!"

I was like WTF. Turns out he's also doing the same song, only different cover artiste. Tsk. So I came home feeling kinda panicky cos the presentation's tomorrow, and dug out all the other mini researches I did before I decided on the Carpenters. Came across Hirai Ken's cover of the Eagles' Desperado, but damn, I couldn't find the cover version of the song, so I gave up on that one. After a while more of googling and wikipedia hunt, I stumbled on X Japan. xD Turns out that two members of Guns N' Roses covered a ballad of theirs, called "Endless Rain".

I also found High and Mighty Color covering Luna Sea's "Rosier", but I was more unfamiliar with X Japan's genre, and I highly preferred High and Mighty Color's music, actually... so I took X Japan up, since we were asked to try not to pick what we liked. -.-

Quite interesting, really. If only the words "punk rock" and "metal" didn't appear so often. Bleh. xD

After all this research and understanding of the "metal" and "progressive" rock genre.... I still don't like this genre at all. But it's cool, I guess. Even ballads sound so heavy metal coming from heavy metal bands. >.<>

I'm having a headache now cos I was previewing X-Japan's songs for the research, and GOSH. It's really loud and screamo. >.<

To think I might be mixing this genre in the future... Life's gonna be hell... Hahaha. xD

# Blaaah.-

The test was harder than expected. =x Kenneth said it wasn't hard, but... Urgh. I think I did really badly.

Remembered lotsa stuff that I studied, but half of what I spent memorising DIDN'T come out. xD Hahaha. So I was a little like, "WTF." I seem to always focus on stuff that don't come out on the actual test itself. XD Haha. Let's see what I forgot:

I forgot the symbol for a capacitor, messed up calculations for one decibels and one electronics question, wrote 30 seconds instead of 30 milliseconds for one of the questions, forgot all about reverberation... Patch bays didn't come out and I felt like banging my head on the wall... What else? Oh, forgot about stereosonic miking technique, too. I know I did very badly for the section on studio practices. =x

When we flipped the paper over and saw the first question, all of us (namely Jeremy, Johnson and I) gasped and started to panic. Why? Cos we forgot to revise phase shift. Hahaha. The first question had something to do with phase calculation or something. xD

It was very funny actually. We were all so nervy and panicky, it was quite a sight. I guess I MIGHT scrape a pass... but I definitely won't score high. -.- In fact, the possibility of me failing is pretty high. Like, 70(fail):20(scrape a pass):10(pass well)?

Haha, oh well. I need to learn how to calm down before a test. xD

Lalala~ Now that's over... I need food. -.-

# Mug-for-test marathon-

Today is the mug-for-test marathon. :)

I'll have to meet Sophia to borrow some stuff from her after this post, and I'll come right back with junk food to munch on while I study.

It's the test tomorrow~ I shall spend the day revising... Tsk, this is the second time I spelt "spend" as "spen". Something's wrong with me. Earlier just now I went to the forums and did the same thing, and now I did it again. -.-

It's ten past midnight as I type.
I'm hungry, wide awake... and very happy. :D

You don't have to know why, but I just am. Happier than I have ever been for the past few days. I'm probably going to feel disappointed and sad and stressed again when I get to school tomorrow because we're starting on midi theory already, and there's still that test on Thursday that freaks me out, but no matter.

I live for "now".

The present is more than enough to make me forget all the anxiety I've been experiencing because of that wretched theory test.

Things seem to happen for a reason today, though I can't seem to understand it yet.

It's fifteen minutes past midnight now.

I'm still hungry, a little tired now, but still on cloud nine.

But but but, what was funnier was that Skyla actually came back for classes, because it's already the second semester. xD She walked in with Ian and Ryan when Johnson and I were talking, and after a while, Tien came... followed by our supervisor, Tee, and he told us:

"You guys can go home for today. There's no replacement teacher."

...

He left the room, and we were all like, "WAHH HO SEH. We wake up for nothing!" Hahaha. xD

Skyla's expression was priceless. She sat there with that "WTF" look, and we were like, "Skyla sweh sia, finally come back for lesson but got no teacher."

LOL.

She just sat there and looked slightly pissed, then she got up and said that she was going to work. xD I went with Ian to meet the brothers for breakfast, but in the end I changed my mind and headed back to school again to study. Johnson was doing his assignment, Musa too, and Haoyang did his signal flow test! Congrats on passing! Tien was studying too... We are a very stressed up lot.

Lol.

And now... I'm home! Hahaha. xD

# JE Bits and Pieces, and Cream and Mint-

JE Fandom (now changed to JE Bits and Pieces) can still be found here. Check there for updates on JE stuff, though I won't be as consistent as many other dedicated JE fans out there, so don't rely too much on that blog. It's "bits and pieces" simply because... I'm just not consistent enough. xD I update by random, or when I suddenly remember I have something JE related that I should share.

So yes... Bits and Pieces. xD
